Michael

Audio Director

Michael is an award-winning audio director with 14 years of experience in the game industry.

Before joining Red 5, he led all audio-related efforts at Oddworld Inhabitants from 2001-2005 on Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. His unique blend of music and sound design on Oddworld’s projects won him numerous awards and nominations. Michael has also worked for Take 2 Interactive and Microprose with additional titles published by Electronic Arts, THQ, National Geographic and Interplay. When not stirring up a flurry of music and sound, he spends time working on a robot made of 100% cheese (though no prototype has been completely successful yet).

Q: Most bizarre thing that happened to you on a job?
A: It wasn’t in the game industry. I was working at a concrete plant and was mixing concrete. I happened to plug in a power tool when I was standing knee deep in water. Obviously, I wasn’t clever enough to avoid a good dose of electrocution.

Q: Ever been in the back of a police car?
A: Back in college, I…uh, “confiscated” a parking meter from some frat boys who stole the parking meter originally. I was at their house when they were having a basement party. The beer sucked and I was bored. Not sure how I even walked out of their place without them seeing me carry it, because they probably would have tried to kill me. As I strutted down the street with the meter slung over my shoulder around 2am (and happily buzzed), a patrol car turned the corner. I had to sit in the back of the patrol car while they decided what to do. Eventually, they let me go. They knew I was a good boy.

Q: Ever win any contests?
A: A pie-eating contest when I was 4 years old. I’ll kick all your asses.
