Video Policy

Red 5 - Monday, 10 December 2012 11:31

We love videos and streamers! We love them so much that we want to make sure that we support them in any way that we can. In order to make sure we are able to continue that support, there are a few rules we need to put in place to protect the brands of Red 5 Studios.

Non-Commercial Use

Unless you have been provided written approval stating otherwise, all videos containing works developed or produced by Red 5 Studios are limited to non-commercial use only. As the creator of content, you are able to produce content and release it freely within your community or via freely accessible channels. You may not charge a “fee” for access to content.

Premium or Members-Only Access

Some websites or platforms may offer limited access to content or offer higher quality viewing to content for paying members or premium accounts. This is fine as long as there is always free access to the same content at a reasonable quality level. Reasonable is to be determined by Red 5 Studios. Anything below 320×240 is unreasonable.

Partner Programs and Monetization

Sites such as Youtube and Twitch.tv offer partner programs that allow you to monetize your content through the addition of advertisements either during the playback or as an overlay. These programs are perfectly acceptable as long as you do not prevent access to the produced content. “Renting” or otherwise limiting viewing to paying customers is prohibited.

Distribution

You may choose what distribution channels you would like to release content on, but all distribution channels must follow the non-commercial use policy. This means that you are not allowed to sell your content to a distribution outlet for a fee. Red 5 Studios reserves the right to all commercial distribution of content. The only exceptions to this rule are if you participate in partner programs with YouTube, Twitch.tv, Own3d.tv, Ustream.tv, or other distribution channel where said website may pay you for views of your content if you are accepted into their partner program.
